My goals: zip2dma, dma2zip, etc.

I was reading wikipedia.org, and saw that they did not have a list of DMA's (Designated Marketing Areas) which are set up by the US Government, and presumably free.

You can buy them from many organizations, and I hope from me, also.

My goal is to make these DMA and zip code lists available for not much money, perhaps a token amount, perhaps a contribution, perhaps petty cash for a company, but make them available.

I am working for a company, and that is my first priority.

So, I am keeping this project small, until my firm approves it. And if not, then sorry, but I "don't want to quit my day job," as they say.

However, I do only wish to use publicly available sources (e.g. from the FCC, USPS, US Census) to derive these lists, and have that proof publicly available, so it is clear that I am not using information derived from any copyrighted material. In other words, as I write this document (my clock says 8:54:28 pm NYC time on Monday, May 10, 2010), I have no access to nor have I seen such a list of zip codes to DMA or vice versa.

The spreadsheet of the data is here.
